Is Gaming a new way students can make money

 


As gaming has grown it's footprint in Nigeria, so too have the opportunities to generate a successful career from what has historically been viewed by many as nothing more than a waste of time.

In general, there are some primary sources of income that professional gamers even students can get.

These are the ways of making my money. Note, do not rush this process and research for more details before you get started.

  1. Prize money


This is the oldest form of making money from playing games.

This is when a group or single player compete with other competitors for a prize. Note that, the games are very hard and competitive, so you must be a pro in playing that particular game.

The way students can make money from this is to compete in competitions such as

2. Twitch streaming 



Streaming is the most popular way for non competitive gamers to make a living in the video game space. 

Twitch subscriptions are broken out into three tiers. 

  • Tier 1: $4.99 per month 
  • Tier 2: $9.99 per month 
  • Tier 3: $24.99 per month

3. You tube 



As the most popular of it's kind,  YouTube provides an easy way for gamers to make money by uploading videos and using adsense to monetise it. 

Youtube also has a pay subscription called a "channel membership", however there is only one tier at a cost of $4.99 a month.
